There are many things your fellow marathoners won’t tell you during the race, just as there are many they won’t tell you before the race. In truth, it’s the “during” part of the race where they have the most to tell you — but won’t. But, I will. I am compelled to tell you. Your …

9 Things Your Fellow Marathoners Won’t Tell You Before the Start of the Race

Posted on June 5, 2012 by Kirk Mahoney

There are many things your fellow marathoners won’t tell you before the start of the race. Are you surprised by this? I was excited and delighted two months ago, when I ran my first negative-split marathon, even though it was also then my worst chip-time in a marathon. Last month, I had a harder time in the next marathon, got a very positive split, and set an even newer personal worst (PW) for my marathon record. …

Surfside Beach Marathon 2012 yesterday is supposedly the only marathon that is run entirely on the beach. The weather yesterday morning made it feel as …

2012 Texas Marathon vs. Houston Marathon

Posted on January 22, 2012 by Kirk Mahoney

The 2012 Texas Marathon and Houston Marathon were just two weeks apart — on January 1st and January 15th, respectively. I got to participate in both of them, and finishing yet another two marathons that close together was educational. What made those fifteen days even more fun was getting to see IN PERSON (Woo-hoo!) the …
