2010 Houston Marathon nearly sold out!

Roberta McInnis wrote two days ago about how the 2010 Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon sold out at a torrid pace this past weekend — 17-19 July 2009.

Registration for the Aramco Houston Half Marathon closed 20 hours after it opened at 12:01 a.m. Friday, and the marathon was full by 1 p.m. Sunday, even though the size of the fields was increased by 4,000 — to 22,000 — this year.

Donating $350 to a “Run for a Reason” charity is now the ONLY WAY to gain entry to either race:

  • About 300 slots remain for the marathon.
  • About 100 slots remain for the half marathon.

But hurry! Those slots are expected to be taken by next week.

To what marathon have you had trouble gaining entry? What entry rules or fees made sense or bothered you?
