“I AM GRATEFUL.”

Gratitude Power Cover“I AM GRATEFUL.”

When is the last time that you said that to yourself, let alone to someone else?

You may be wondering,

What does gratitude have to do with me as an endurance runner or walker?

Well, as I wrote about in my book Mental Tricks for Endurance Runners and Walkers,

The Law of Attraction essentially says, “We become what we think about.” And we attract more of the people, things, and experiences for which we regularly express gratitude. … [gratitude] lets you focus the Law of Attraction on your training or racing achievements and goals.

Announcing My Latest Book!

Now, in my new book Gratitude Power for Runners and Walkers, I show you:

  • How to tell whether you run or walk with meaning
  • How to know whether you underrate gratitude
  • The many benefits of gratitude to your running or walking
  • Ten techniques for building gratitude daily

I also provide some 1,000 gratitude statements in more than 100 chapters for everything from activities and your body to people, places, and things.

And I dedicate my new book to YOU, my readers, for whom I feel much gratitude.

Celebration Time = Photo-Submission Contest!

To celebrate the release of Gratitude Power for Runners and Walkers, I am launching today an “I AM GRATEFUL.” photo-submission contest.

  • Post at Facebook a photo of you holding an “I AM GRATEFUL.” sign.
  • Ideally, the photo will show you in your running or walking gear.
  • To make the photo more fun, pose in front of your favorite place to run or walk, or point to a person, thing, or body part that is the target of your gratitude as a runner or walker.
  • You have until 11:59 PM Central Time on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, to post your photo on the SpryFeet Facebook page for consideration in the contest.
  • Judging will begin on December 1, 2011, and up to twenty winners’ names will be announced soon thereafter on SpryFeet.com.
  • Each winner gets a copy of Gratitude Power for Runners and Walkers in softcover.
  • No purchase is necessary.
  • This contest is void in any location where it is prohibited by law.
  • Only one photo per contestant is allowed, so choose and post your best one!
  • I will autograph each winner’s book, and you may specify someone else’s name on the autograph page in the event that you have already bought the book and want to give your winning copy to someone else.
  • I will announce the winners in early December, 2011, on Facebook, on Twitter, and to my SpryFeet.com subscribers.
  • You must claim your prize by December 15, 2011.

November is the month of Thanksgiving here in the USA. So this is the perfect month for YOU to take the “I AM GRATEFUL.” contest challenge!

Meet Our Judges

Colleen Murphy, known as @tryn2bfit at Twitter, is the host of TheFitBee.com. Colleen started running eighteen months ago. The motivation: her newborn daughter! Colleen lost 120 pounds, and, as of today, has six half marathons and numerous other races under her hydration belt! Colleen at this writing is preparing to run her first marathon — later this month! (Go, Colleen!) [Update: Colleen finished her first marathon — in 3:46!]

In reviewing my new book, Colleen wrote, “Everyone needs gratitude in their daily living, and Dr. Mahoney offers the step-by-step process to achieve it in this book.”

Dr. Sherry Pagoto, known as @DrSherryPagoto at Twitter, is the host of FUDiet.com. Sherry is a psychologist, obesity researcher, and professor, and she has been a runner for twenty years. Like Colleen, Sherry was kind enough to write a review of Gratitude Power for Runners and Walkers.

In reviewing Gratitude Power for Runners and Walkers, Sherry, wrote, “Dr. Mahoney shows us precisely how to create a more meaningful and fulfilling, physically active lifestyle.”

Steve Shepard is the Marketing Director for Dreams in Action, about which you can learn more at MarshallUlrich.com. Steve refers to himself as a lifelong recreational runner and as a competitive runner since 1992.

In reviewing my new book, Steve wrote, “I recommend Gratitude Power for Runners and Walkers for all runners and walkers, and think the book would make a great catalyst for the aspiring runners and walkers in your life as well.” — a good reminder that you can give away the book, if you buy a copy and then win another one!

I AM GRATEFUL to Colleen, Sherry, and Steve for agreeing to judge the photos!
