Marathoner Gratitude Daily

Marathoner gratitude daily is my best way to label my expressions of daily gratitude as a marathoner. Being a several-time marathoner who recognizes that gratitude is important to positively employing the Law of Attraction, of which I have become a big fan, here are several things in my life as a marathoner for which I must express gratitude.

1. I am grateful for my spouse. My spouse supports my marathoning in many ways throughout the training season and on marathon day.

  • My spouse gets up early during the week and on Saturdays to join me for training sessions.
  • My spouse sympathizes when I eat the wrong thing, get the wrong shoe, or fail to heed advice to run my own training route or my own race.
  • My spouse holds me accountable for my own goals and gives me encouraging words no matter how well I do.

2. I am grateful for my other family members. My other family members support me in many ways, too.

  • My other family members put up with me leaving a party early so that I can get enough sleep before an early-morning training session or race.
  • My other family members show up at my marathons to greet me at the finish line.
  • My other family members feign interest in marathoning even though they would never dream of running or walking one.

3. I am grateful for my coaches. My coaches deserve lots of appreciation for the ways in which they support me.

  • My coaches challenge me when I take it too easy.
  • My coaches encourage me when I am having a bad training session or race.
  • My coaches educate me with what they have learned.

4. I am grateful for my training partners. My training partners help me in many ways.

  • They distract me from pain or boredom during long training sessions.
  • They keep me honest when I try to run or walk too quickly or too slowly.
  • They shout words of encouragement as they pass me — or I pass them — during a marathon.

5. I am grateful for marathon staffers. Without them, I cannot race.

  • Race officials provide the necessary leadership.
  • Volunteers make a marathon happen.
  • Civil servants provide the necessary infrastructure.

6. I am grateful for my health. Without my health, marathoning would not be possible.

  • My health lets me be strong and flexible for my marathoning.
  • My health lets me be persistent and patient.
  • My health lets me recover from a marathon with some shred of dignity and grace.

7. I am grateful for my website readers. The readers of my website about running and walking are constant training and racing companions in my mind.

  • I think of them when I try something and it fails.
  • I think of them when I try something and it works.
  • I think of them when I discover interesting and valuable information about running or walking.

There you have it: Seven “things” — mostly people! — for which I feel gratitude daily as a marathoner.
