“Strides Across Texas” 482-Mile Run

As you may have seen, I seek to raise $524 for CanCare through my run of the 2010 Chevron Houston Marathon on January 17, 2010.

That works out to:

  • 26.2 miles in one morning;
  • $20/mile as a fund-raising goal.

But there is a man who has a much greater goal this holiday season — both fund-raising-wise and running-wise.

Kevin Kline seeks to raise $500,000 for Texas Children’s Cancer Center through his 482-mile “Strides Across Texas” run from Dallas to Austin to San Antonio to Houston, beginning December 20, 2009, at the Cotton Bowl, and ending January 1, 2010, at Texas Children’s Cancer Center.

That works out to:

  • 37+ miles a day for 13 days straight;
  • $1,037/mile as a fund-raising goal.

My heart aches for children with any medical challenge, but especially for children with cancer.

So, no matter whether you donate at my CanCare page, please seriously consider donating at StridesAcrossTexas.org this Hanukkah and Christmas season.

Imagining what it takes to accomplish Mr. Kline’s goal leaves me in awe every time that I consider it.

And, if you read this post after Mr. Kline has finished this ambitious run, then please vist SnowdropFoundation.org to learn more about Snowdrop Foundation, which funds scholarships for college-bound pediatric cancer patients as well as continued research to eliminate childhood cancer.

Thank you.
