Running + Twitter + BlackBerry = a black eye and a cracked skull.
That is the lesson taught by James Coleman of Bristol, England.
According to this story at Gawker, Mr. Coleman was tweeting on his BlackBerry while running to work when he hit his head on a tree branch and cracked his skull.
Ouch!
My analysis:
- Tweeting can be an obsession. (Just look at some Twitter users’ seemingly unending streams of tweets.)
- Using a BlackBerry can be an obsession. (Why else do people call it “CrackBerry”?)
- And we all know that running can be an obsession.
When you put three obsessions together, you can easily get someone who is not paying attention to his or her environment.
What do you do while running? Please leave a comment here. Thanks!

I used to run on my treadmill while I surf the web on my laptop, until the laptop fell off the magazine rack from the treadmill while I was running and without thinking i bent over to catch the laptop and fell off the treadmill myself, I was not wearing the chip that makes the treadmil stop, so the treadmill kept on going and so did I. I felt like an item at the check out counter.
